Detergent upgrades and care add-ons scale down on Light-size bags; wool dryer balls and rush turnaround stay the same flat price on every bag size. Here is what each one does, why it's worth it, and what to expect.
Premium Components.
Dirty Labs detergent is included free on Essential already with no upgrade needed — Lifestyle uses L'Avant Collective standard. L'Avant, wool dryer balls, Athleticwear Refresh, and rush turnaround are the real step-ups.
Dirty Labs Detergent
Included Free on EssentialWhat it does: Real botanical detergent, not a house blend — Signature or Murasaki (scented), or Free & Clear (fragrance-free), at no extra charge on Essential.
Why it's worth it: Gentler on skin and fabric than mass-market formulas, and free of the synthetic dyes and heavy fragrance load that come standard in most detergents. Scented options receive a matching linen mist automatically.
L'Avant Collective Upgrade
+$4 / Bag on Essential (+$3 on Essential Light) · Free w/ LifestyleWhat it does: Swaps Dirty Labs for L'Avant Collective — Fresh Linen or Ambre Santal (scented), or Unscented — for anyone who wants the Lifestyle-tier detergent without the full tier.
Why it's worth it: L'Avant's plant-based formula and elevated scent profile are worth paying for on their own if the rest of Essential already fits your week.
Wool Dryer Balls
+$2 / Bag on Essential · Free w/ LifestyleWhat it does: Replaces dryer sheets with reusable wool balls that separate fabric layers as they tumble.
Why it's worth it: Cuts drying time (less waste heat, lower static), and skips the synthetic fragrance and residue that dryer sheets leave on towels and activewear.
Athleticwear Refresh

+$15 / Bag on Essential · Free w/ LifestyleWhat it does: 24-hour return after pickup, instead of standard 48-hour turnaround. Subject to daily capacity and a 10 AM pickup cutoff.
Why it's worth it: When you need your bag back fast, rush guarantees priority processing without committing to Lifestyle every week.
Boutique Fold & Packaging
Included Only with LifestyleWhat it does: Every stack finished with a cotton ribbon tie, closet-ready — not available a la carte at any price.
Why it's Lifestyle-only: It takes0.5x more per-bag handling time than standard folding, so it's built into the Lifestyle rate rather than priced as a quick add-on.
Lifestyle-Exclusive Care.
Requires dedicated handling that doesn't fit into a standard batch run, so it is only available with the full Lifestyle tier.
Hand-Wash & Air-Dry Care
What it does: Ultra-gentle hand processing for silk, cashmere, and other delicates that cannot safely go through a standard machine cycle.
Why it's Lifestyle-only: It is handled individually off the batch line, requiring dedicated one-on-one attention for every delicate garment.
